Finely chop the onion and when it becomes translucent, add the peas and diced carrots and let them boil together for 10 minutes, then add water or soup. When the peas are cooked, add the tomatoes, peeled, cut into cubes, season with salt and pepper, and let it simmer until it "binds". After I took the food off the heat, I flavored it with parsley and chopped green dill.

Enjoy your meal!

Pea dish with chicken

I did it for my son, it turned out excellent. Today or tomorrow I do it again, I read the recipe to make sure I didn't forget the ingredients and how to prepare it.
Ah, yesterday I cooked the pipote stew again! :) Every time I have the impression that it turns out even better! What's more, I become a super cook, with your recipe page! Thank you.

With pleasure! So we are both on the right track - and I do the same, I sometimes reread my recipes, to make sure I'm not wrong :) I hope you stay true to my recipes even after you become a mega cook :)

I would add something, quite important, valid not only for peas but also for. lentils, beans. They are boiled over low heat, otherwise the grains harden, even peel and the food loses its appearance and flavor.

Interestingly, I did not know that this is why peas are sometimes peeled. Thank you for the tip.

Hi, I want to make this dish and I wanted to ask how much water should be put to boil the peas? I am a novice, I have no ink experience in gastronomy: p

Hi, it means you hit the right culinary blog! :) Most of my recipes are only good for the inexperienced. You need to put enough water in the food to cover the peas. But be careful not to fool you :) - peas tend to float.

Try to add a red bell pepper, it will change its color and give it a special flavor :)

I'm sure I'll try it next time, looking at the pictures of the recipe I realize that pea food would not spoil a drop of color at all :)

Thanks for the recipes. Today I cooked peas according to this recipe. I am pleasantly surprised to notice that every time I look for a recipe, the easiest to understand, with the best explanations and images I find it on this site :). A nice evening. Lydia

With pleasure, Lydia! I hope that, every time you look for a recipe, you will find it on my site and, of course, it will meet all the features listed above. Although, I must admit, this pea dish with chicken deserves (and must!) Have a much more attractive image :) I wish you a beautiful evening!

Hello ,
a suggestion I received from a & quottanti cook & quot
to change the flour sauce with 1-2 diced potatoes and which are added with the peas.
the effect is similar and much healthier.
now I try this idea and come back with mentions after.
crystal

Hello, Cristi! She knew well & quottanti cook & quot, I also sometimes make pea food with potatoes. I use them more when I don't have chicken or to "multiply" the food, for the time being my stomach is still "quottine" to absolutely anything. And yes, pea food with potatoes is very tasty and worth a try.

Hi, Robert. I would have a question: why should I avoid rehydrated peas? Thanks also for the answer (which I am sure I will receive, as soon as I noticed that you are), and for the recipes posted, which make my stay in the kitchen much more pleasant and give me the feeling that I know how to cook :). Nina

Hi, Nina. Rehydrated peas are dehydrated peas to keep for a long time and which, according to who knows how long, has been kept in water to become apparently normal peas again :) And it is absolutely impossible that, after such a process, not to remain hard grains (not sufficiently hydrated). I don't know if I explained 100% correctly, I admit that I'm not a great pea specialist, so anyone who knows better can correct / complete me. I understand you, although I still consider myself a beginner in cooking, I noticed that my culinary blog manages to give me the same feeling :)

Superb blog in any case, I have been working in the field for 8 years, and I can say that the food came out tasty. only I'm not here, everything is "bloated" to excess, and I have to season hard to cover, the taste of "paper" for peas and vegetables. I have been in Norway for some time, and it is very difficult for me to get used to the food.

If you only cook for Norwegians, then you shouldn't bother to cover the & quothartie & quot taste of vegetables, they are used to it and I think it should be :) The downside is that you have to eat that food too , so you will have to season in abundance, until you get used to it, you can find some more "friendly" assortments to taste.

Hi, Robert!
The other day I also cooked the pea dish with chicken. I adapted your recipe a bit, I used already boned chicken legs (it turns out tasty and so on, because I only used the juice in which the meat was boiled) and I added half a bell pepper (red, obviously. I just like it). red color: D), finely chopped.
But it didn't work out. Why this? Because I did not follow your advice to use frozen peas, I used canned peas instead. I boiled the peas for 2 hours. and there were still a few uncooked, hard grains. I learned my mind, so I will never use peas in a jar again.
Otherwise, it turned out very tasty. Thanks for the recipe! :)
Today I will cook soup with dumplings (and it is a little adapted, of course ... in the sense that I make dumplings from 2 eggs and about 6-8 tablespoons of semolina)

Hi, Gabriela! And I often suffer from this, I do not give enough importance to the advice received. until I feel it on my skin :) With frozen peas I would have said that it is impossible to go wrong, but I was quite dissatisfied with one bought about two months ago (it was produced by a company that I had tried in many recipes). But with rehydrated peas you will most likely have problems every time :) In general, I noticed that this is in the box, not in the jar. However, it does not necessarily matter if it is in a jar or box, it is important not to write anywhere on the label the word "hydrated". Pea in a jar can be preserved otherwise, it is not necessarily rehydrated. Speaking of jar / box, I like canned peas because I don't have to take care of the jar anymore: D

Pea food for the winter

If I still had peas in the garden and the production was quite consistent, I prepared a few jars with Pea food for the winter.

But I also prepared a few jars of pickled peas & # 8211 See the Recipe Here.

Both options will be very useful later.

As for the jars with Pea food for the winter, they will be especially useful during fasting periods.

Pea food for the winter it has everything it needs, we just open the jar and heat the contents.

But, for extra flavor and freshness, we can add a clove of garlic, grated and fresh greens.

You can add a teaspoon of sugar for those who prefer a sweeter taste.

Some housewives also use rancid flour to thicken pea food.

We like it even more juicy. We add some flavored croutons in it and it is perfect.

Or, to thicken it, you can add a grated potato, a grated zucchini.

It is delicious in all combinations and very filling, we will have one of the main meals provided.

Peas can also be preserved for the winter and in the freezer. Wash well, drain and put directly in bags, portioned for a meal.

Pea dish with potatoes and meat

A tasty, healthy and filling food, to the taste of adults, but also of children. My grandmother called it & # 8220pea popcornâ & # x20AC; & # x2122; probably from paprika, which is also called & # 8220poprică & # 8221 or & # 8220pick parkâ & # 8221 in Banat.

  • 500, 600 g peas (I used in the jar)
  • an onion
  • 5 potatoes
  • meat (I used pork neck), about 200 g, but if you want, you can put even more
  • 2 carrots
  • one tomato
  • 3 tablespoons tomato paste
  • a tablespoon of flour
  • paprika
  • salt
  • pepper
  • thyme

The onion cut into scales is hardened in a little oil. Leave it to harden for a while, then add the meat, cut into small cubes, harden a little, then add the chopped carrots, as well as the pieces.

Leave to harden for another 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, then put the potatoes, cut into cubes.

Stir, add the paprika, mix a little more and then add a half cup of water and a little salt. After 15 minutes of boiling, add the peas, drained and washed. I put it in the strainer and run it through a stream of tap water.

Let it boil for about 10 minutes, until all the vegetables are cooked, then add a scalded and peeled tomato, finely chopped. The tomato is put at the end because it slows down the cooking. Then make a mixture of tomato paste with flour, and pour at the end, over the pea dish.

Stir, then salt and pepper to taste, and if desired, add thyme. I put it on and it tasted great.

P.S. : If the peas are raw, not in a jar or can, put them right at the beginning, along with the meat, because it requires much longer cooking time.

Good idea for lunch tomorrow. Thousands of thanks. Kiss.

I discovered your blog a few days ago. Bestial recipes. I like that you try to cook as healthy as possible without too many fries.
Regarding peas & have you ever tried to make it with sour cream (or fatty yogurt) and a lot of dill?
My friend says it's bestial.

PS: I have already chosen some of your networks to cook them this week

Anonymous I'm glad you like the recipes I tried & # 8230 as for peas, I make the recipe with sour cream similar to this and at the end I put a lot of chopped dill & # 8230 with yogurt I haven't tried, I would be grateful if you write the recipe because my husband is a pea fan :))

Now I'm going to do it because you made me want to ...

I'm waiting for you to tell me how it turned out & # 8230 but definitely with sausages besides, yes? :)). Have a nice weekend :).

How can I cook this food without cooking onions?

You can add oil to heat, then add the peas and onions, finely chopped. If you don't like onions, you can remove them altogether :). A beautiful day !

Mamaaaaaaa, what a mess you got me out of. I didn't know what to cook quickly. It's a great recipe and looks fffff good. Now I'm going to do it. Thank you very much for the recipes.

Hi Amalia, I follow your blog every day & you help me a lot by giving me ideas for what to cook. I'm trying this sweet & # 8230pup recipe today.
A beautiful spring & # 8230 as you wish & # 8230

Hi Laura, thanks for the appreciation these days I haven't posted much .. # you know spring asthenia, but I'm trying to recover :).

I also use peas ,, Bond & # 8230 & # 8221 & # 8221 (you understand, without advertising) it is very good and very tasty, I put it at the end of the meal, I leave it only 2-3 boils then I stop the fire and sprinkle dill on top !! try it too.

If it's food, let it be food! I use garlic instead of onion, which I cut into small pieces and put it in a pot with 3-4 tablespoons of olive oil, heated well. Do not fry the garlic for more than 10-15 seconds and then add the peas. After cooking them for 15-20 minutes, I add boiled water just enough to cover the peas and let them boil for about 20 minutes. During this time I prepare a starch from 1 tablespoon of flour and about 1l of milk (whoever wants can do it with sour cream) which I will pour over the almost boiled peas and let them boil until they boil in 2-3 boils. At the end I sprinkle dill or finely chopped parsley (leaves) and cover the bowl with a lid so that the food takes on flavor.

Excellent recipe, I will try it and my husband loves peas :).

no more water is added after I added the tomato juice?

Dear Amalia,
I don't cook much, but when I feel like something, I immerse myself in this site, look at the recipes and get tired of looking and feeling their aroma. I am also from Transylvania, and you bring home the flavor of my favorite foods, as you prepare the pictures, they are like when I make them under my eyes, and the taste must be like my mother's. Definitely and without a doubt. I can't find them as a mother. I'm in Qatar, and you bring me home here & # 8230. & # 8221 the smell of home & # 8221.
I wish you good health, to be able to write as many recipes as possible, and I hope you will be appreciated for what you do for us, you are a miracle.

Luminita thank you very much for the beautiful words, they went straight to my heart, I know it's hard when you're away from home but look as you write you still remember the food from your mother cooking a recipe & # 8230 I'm glad that the recipes I like you:) & # 8230 kiss you and all the best.
